A Bit About Me
The question you are asked as a child too many times to count is "What do you want to be when you grow up?" Some kids want to be an astronaut, others a doctor, some even a superhero, but for me, my dream was always to be a teacher. As I grew up the dream expanded to different levels and I believe this dream will continue to grow.
As a senior in high school, I decided to go to the top (I may be biased) education schools in Iowa. You guessed it, University of Northern Iowa. I mean it was originally called Iowa's Teachers College. Not only do they have a phenomenal teaching college, but their music program is very well respected as well. There was no better choice being the school provided me with my two passions, teaching and music. After four years of learning, growing, becoming a better musician and teacher, I graduated with a Choral music Education Degree. I loved teaching in the classroom, but the days I got to spend teaching one on one, getting to know the students individually, and watching them grow musically, vocally and as a person, were by far my favorite parts of teaching.
After graduation in the spring of 2017, I decided to move back home and pursue my dream of becoming a private voice teacher. I watched my mom, whom I have much respect for, live out this same dream teaching piano, and I knew that if I truly wanted it, I could make it happen. My father always said, "Find a job that doesn't feel like work and make it happen."
